Groove-Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to You

At Groove , your privacy is a top priority. Your privacy is at the heart of how we design and build the services and products you know and love, so that you can fully trust them and focus on building meaningful connections.

We appreciate the trust you place in us when providing us with information, and we take that very seriously.

We will not compromise on privacy. We design all our products and services with your privacy in mind. We employ experts from a variety of fields, including legal, security, engineering, product design, etc. to ensure that any decision made is respectful of your privacy.

We strive to be transparent about how we handle your data. Since we use many of the same online services you use, we know that insufficient information and overly complex language are common issues in privacy policies. We took the exact opposite approach: we wrote our privacy policy and related documents in plain language. We actually want you to read our policy and understand our privacy practices!

We work hard to keep your information safe We have a dedicated team to keep your data safe. We are constantly updating our security practices and investing in our security efforts to enhance the security of your information.

Privacy Policy

Welcome to Groove 's Privacy Policy. Thank you for taking the time to read it.

We appreciate your trust in us and your information, and we intend to always keep that trust. First, make sure you understand what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and your choices regarding it. This policy describes our privacy practices in plain language, minimizing the use of legal and technical jargon.

1. Scope of application of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to websites, applications, events, and other services operated by Groove . For simplicity, we refer to all of these as our “Services” in this Privacy Policy. For greater clarity, we have included a link to this Privacy Policy on all applicable Services.

Some services may require their own unique privacy policies. If a service has its own privacy policy, that policy (and not this Privacy Policy) will apply.

2. Information We Collect

Needless to say, we can't help you make meaningful connections without some information from you, such as basic profile details and the types of people you want to meet. We also collect information generated when you use our Services, such as access logs, and information from third parties, such as when you access our Services through a social media account. We'll go into more detail below if you need more information.

Information You Provide to Us

You choose to provide us with certain information when you use our Services. This includes:

When you create an account, you provide us with at least information about your login credentials, such as:

username;

email address;

Gender identity;

date of birth;

photo;

and more..

Once you complete your profile, you can share more information with us, such as your personality, lifestyle, interests and other details, as well as content such as photos and videos. To add certain content (such as pictures or videos), you may allow us to access your camera or photo album. Some of the information you choose to provide to us may be considered "special" or "sensitive" in certain jurisdictions, such as your racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs. By choosing to provide this information, you consent to our processing of it.

If you contact our customer service team, we collect the information you provide during your interaction. Sometimes, we monitor or record these interactions for training purposes and to ensure high quality service.

If you ask us to communicate with or otherwise process another person’s information (for example, if you ask us to send an email to one of your friends on your behalf), we collect the information you provide to us about that other person in order to fulfill your request.

Of course, as part of operating the service, we also process your chats with other users and the content you post.

Information We Receive from Others

In addition to the information you provide directly to us, we also receive information about you from other people, including:

Other Users Other users may provide information about you when they use our Services. For example, if other users contact us with questions about you, we may collect information about you from them.

Social Media You can create and log in to a Groove account using your social media login information, such as Facebook . This saves you from having to remember another username and password, and lets you share some of your information with us from your social media accounts.

Other Partners We may receive information about you from our partners, for example when Groove adverts are published on partners’ websites and platforms (in which case they may pass on details about the success of the campaign).

Information collected when you use our services

When you use our Services, we collect information about which features you have used, how you have used them, and which devices you use to access our Services. For more details, see below:

Usage Information We collect information about your activities on our Services, such as how you use them (e.g., the date and time you logged in, the features you used, searches, clicks and pages shown to you, referring web page addresses) and how you interact with other users (e.g., the users you connect and interact with, the times and dates you communicate, the number of messages you send and receive).

Device Information We collect information about the device you use to access our Services, including:

Hardware and software information, such as IP address, device ID and type, device-specific and application settings and characteristics, application crashes, advertising IDs (such as Google’s AAID and Apple’s IDFA, both of which are randomly generated numbers that you can reset by going to your device settings), browser type, version and language, operating system, time zone, identifiers associated with cookies or other technologies that uniquely identify your device or browser (such as IMEI/UDID and MAC address);

Other Information with Your Consent If you allow us to do so, we may collect your precise geolocation (latitude and longitude) in a variety of ways, depending on the Services and device you use, including GPS, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection. If you explicitly allow us to collect geolocation, we may collect your geolocation in the background even if you are not using the Services. If you refuse us to collect your geolocation, we will not collect it. Similarly, if you consent, we may collect your photos and videos (for example, if you want to post photos, videos or streaming media on the Services).

3. Cookies and other similar data collection technologies

Like most providers of online services, we use cookies to provide, protect and improve our services, including to remember your preferences, recognize you when you visit our website, and personalize and tailor advertising to your interests. To achieve these purposes, we may also link the information in cookies to other personal information we hold about you.

You can use a variety of cookie management options. Please note that changing your cookie preferences may reduce your browsing experience on our website. In some cases, you may not even be able to use all or part of the features of our website.

Some web browsers, including Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome, have a Do Not Track (“DNT”) feature that tells websites that users do not want their online activities tracked. If a website that responds to DNT signals receives a DNT signal, the browser can prevent that website from collecting certain information about the browser user. Not all browsers offer a DNT option, and DNT signals are not yet uniform. For this reason, many businesses, including Groove, do not currently respond to DNT signals.

In any of the above situations, we may use and share non-personal information (which is information that does not identify you by itself, such as device information, general demographic information, general behavioral data, and de-identified geolocation) and hashed, non-human-readable forms of personal information. We retain your personal information only for as long as it is needed for legitimate business purposes and as permitted by applicable law. To protect the safety of users on and off our Services, we implement a three-month security retention period after account deletion. During this period, account information will be retained, although of course the account will no longer be displayed on the Services.

In practice, we delete or anonymize your information after your account is deleted (after a security retention period) or after two years of continuous inactivity, unless:

We must retain this information to comply with applicable law (for example, certain “traffic data” is retained for one year to comply with statutory data retention obligations);

There is an outstanding issue, claim, or dispute that requires us to retain the information until it is resolved; or

This information must be retained for our legitimate business interests, such as preventing fraud and enhancing the safety and security of our users.
